Benahavis medical facilities http://www.benahavis.es/en/noticias/paginaNoticia.html?not=not_20101220_16568.html http://www.benahavis.es/en/noticias/paginaNoticia.html?not=not_20101220_16568.html ayuntamiento@benahavis.es (Benahavís) 01/12/2010

Following several enquiries regarding the medical services in the village here is information that I hope will help clarify the current situation.

Responsibility for Medical Services:
• The provision of medical services depends directly on the Junta de Andalucía and not the Benahavis Ayuntamiento.
• Our Ayuntamiento has met with the Distrito Sanitario to enquire how we can improve the delivery of services.
• Unfortunately the Junta’s legislation means the Distrito Sanitario, cannot provide a better service as there are so few people registered with the medical centre in Benahavis.

What medical facilities does Benahavis currently have?
• At present the Junta de Andalucía provide a doctor and nurse to the village, 3 hours daily, Monday to Friday mornings.
• Benahavis Ayuntamiento supplement this by paying for a nurse who attends the medical services every Saturday and Sunday.

What else does the Ayuntamiento provide for free?
• For the last 3 years families within the municipality have taken advantage of the facility which the Ayuntamiento pays private health insurance for newborns up to the age of 2 years old.

What is the future of Benahavis’ Medical Centre?
• A proposal has been approved from the town hall to enlarge the current medical centre.
• The approved project will see a larger medical centre. A second floor will be added to the current building on the Avenida Andalucía.
• Benahavis Ayuntamiento aims to assist the health services where it can and is set to improve all aspects of medical care in the village.
