Aguas de Benahavís continua con la modernización del servicio y la transformación digital, realizando una inversión cercana a los 1,5 millones de euros en 2021
La empresa, en colaboración con el ayuntamiento de la localidad, está llevando a cabo diversas actuaciones que beneficiarán alrededor de 7.800 vecinos del municipio
Aguas de Benahavís, la empresa que gestiona el ciclo integral del agua en este municipio de la Costa del Sol, está llevando a cabo varias actuaciones con el objetivo de impulsar la transformación digital del servicio y su modernización.
En este sentido, destaca principalmente la instalación del telecontrol en los bombeos y depósitos de agua potable en la Urbanización La Alborada. Esta obra consiste en dotar a los dos depósitos de agua potable y las dos estaciones de bombeo existentes en la urbanización de los elementos necesarios para su funcionamiento y control en remoto. De esta manera, se maximiza el control y la seguridad tanto en la garantía de suministro como en la calidad del agua suministrada, integrando las estaciones en el centro de control existente para monitorizar los parámetros y las alertas que pudieran surgir.
Para modernizar la red de agua potable del municipio, la empresa está realizando también la instalación de una tubería de 300 mm de diámetro en la nueva variante de la carretera de Benahavís, con una longitud aproximada de 1.300 metros, que permitirá mejorar el abastecimiento al casco urbano. También se aprovechará esta nueva infraestructura para dotar de hidrantes en la zona y que estos pudieran ser utilizados en caso de incendio.
Además, ha llevado a cabo la conexión mediante tubería de agua potable de 160 mm de diámetro de la urbanización Real de La Quinta con la urbanización Vega del Jaque para mejorar el suministro de agua potable de esta última en épocas de gran demanda.
A estas actuaciones hay que añadir otras dos de mayor calado que complementan todas las desarrolladas en este 2021: la construcción del nuevo depósito para el municipio y las obras para la eliminación de la EBAR de la urbanización La Alborada y ampliación de la red de alcantarillado de la Urbanización La Quinta.
Gracias a la primera, el nuevo depósito amplía en más del doble la capacidad de almacenamiento de agua potable para esta zona de la ciudad, pasando de 550 m3 a 1.500 m3. De esta forma, Aguas de Benahavís, amplía la garantía de suministro a todo el casco urbano en épocas de máxima demanda, cubriendo tanto las necesidades actuales como las futuras de los habitantes del núcleo urbano de la ciudad.
Respecto a la segunda, existía una estación de bombeo de aguas residuales en la urbanización La Alborada cuya finalidad era la de elevar el agua desde un punto bajo de la urbanización para su evacuación. Con motivo del crecimiento urbanístico de la zona se propuso que, en lugar de ampliar la estación existente, cuyo funcionamiento ya era limitado y con los problemas de olores asociados a este tipo de infraestructuras, se conectase por gravedad a través de la Urbanización La Quinta, por lo ha supuesto una importante mejora en la red de alcantarillado de la zona, que presentaba problemas de estanqueidad y falta de capacidad además de desbordamientos en episodios de lluvia en la zona.
Todas estas actuaciones suponen una inversión cercana a los 1,5 millones de euros y beneficiarán a alrededor de 7.800 vecinos del municipio, incluyendo a todos los del casco urbano.
Apuesta por la energía verde y la neutralidad en carbono
Otra de las mejoras llevadas a cabo por Aguas de Benahavís ha consistido en la instalación de cuatro paneles solares de 270W con baterías para autoconsumo en el depósito de distribución de la Urbanización Flamingos. Esta medida supondrá un importante ahorro energético para esta instalación, demostrando el compromiso de la empresa con el municipio y su entorno natural.
No en vano, Aguas de Benahavís ha logrado alcanzar, junto a Hidralia, su socio privado, la neutralidad en carbono. Un hito que ha hecho posible gracias a años de trabajo en la reducción al máximo de sus emisiones de CO2 y a participar en proyectos de compensación de aquellas que le es imposible reducir. De este modo, la empresa se reafirma como un referente en la lucha contra el cambio climático y continúa su apuesta decidida por la economía circular y por la autosuficiencia energética.

Aguas de Benahavís, the company that manages the integral water cycle in this municipality on the Costa del Sol, is carrying out several actions with the aim of promoting the digital transformation of the service and its modernisation.
In this regard, the main highlight is the installation of remote control in the drinking water pumps and tanks in the La Alborada urbanisation. This work consists of equipping the two drinking water tanks and the two existing pumping stations in the urbanisation with the necessary elements for remote operation and control. In this way, management and security are maximised in terms of guaranteeing supply and the quality of the water supplied, integrating the stations into the existing control centre to monitor the parameters and any alerts that may arise.
To modernise the municipality's drinking water network, the company is also installing a 300 mm diameter pipe on the new bypass of the Benahavís road, with an approximate length of 1,300 metres, which will improve the supply to the centre of the village. This new infrastructure will also be used to provide hydrants in the area so that they can be used in the event of a fire.
It has also connected the Real de La Quinta housing estate to the Vega del Jaque housing estate by means of a 160 mm diameter drinking water pipe to improve the latter's drinking water supply in times of high demand.
In addition to these actions, there are two other more important ones that complement all those carried out in 2021: the construction of the new reservoir for the municipality and the works for the elimination of the EBAR of the La Alborada housing estate and the extension of the sewerage network of the La Quinta housing estate.
Thanks to the former, the new reservoir more than doubles the drinking water storage capacity for this area of the town, from 550 m3 to 1,500 m3. In this way, Aguas de Benahavís, extends the guarantee of supply to the entire town centre at times of peak demand, covering both the current and future needs of the inhabitants of the town centre.
With regard to the second, there was a wastewater pumping station in the La Alborada urbanisation, the purpose of which was to raise the water from a low point in the urbanisation for its evacuation. Due to the urban growth of the area, it was proposed that instead of extending the existing station, whose operation was already limited and with the odour problems associated with this type of infrastructure, it should be connected by gravity through the Urbanización La Quinta, which has meant an important improvement in the sewerage network of the area, which had problems of water tightness and lack of capacity as well as overflows in episodes of rain in the area.
All these actions represent an investment of close to 1.5 million euros and will benefit around 7,800 residents of the municipality, including all those in the town centre.
Commitment to green energy and carbon neutrality
Another of the improvements carried out by Aguas de Benahavís consisted of the installation of four 270W solar panels with batteries for self-consumption in the distribution tank of the Flamingos Urbanisation. This measure will mean a significant energy saving for this installation, demonstrating the company's commitment to the municipality and its natural environment.
Not in vain, Aguas de Benahavís has achieved, together with Hidralia, its private partner, carbon neutrality. A milestone that has been made possible thanks to years of work to reduce its CO2 emissions to the maximum and to participate in offsetting projects for those that it is impossible to reduce. In this way, the company reaffirms its position as a benchmark in the fight against climate change and continues its firm commitment to the circular economy and energy self-sufficiency.
